NORTH CAROLINA: Triangle Math and Science Academy Helium Balloon Launch

Triangle Math and Science AcademyOn October 17, 2013, Triangle Math and Science Academy proudly launched a helium balloon into Earth’s atmosphere. This event was sponsored by TMSA’s Science Olympiad team and coordinated by TMSA teacher, Mr. Isa Pamuk, and Mr. Tanner Lovelace, a parent volunteer, and took place at 11:12 AM. All classes, grades 2nd-7th went outside to the front parking lot to witness the balloon’s launch. The launch was streamed lived for the parents to view. In all, the balloon ascended to the elevation of 113,850 feet above sea level within 90 minutes before it began its descent above Rocky Mount, NC. NC Near Space Research retrieved the balloon off of US-258 near Scotland Neck, NC. The Helium balloon was launched at 11:12am from Triangle Math and Science Academy campus on 17 October 2013 for their Science Olympiad Team.
